Reopening Alert: ALDEA, Ushiwakimaru and Mas (farmhouse) –


Georges Mendes’ Portugal-inspired ALDEA (new dish pictured above) is reopening this Friday with a revamped space and new dinner format. In the dining room, the menu is going prix fixe-only, available as a four-course set ($79) or nine-course tasting ($135). At the new expanded bar area, a separate a la carte menu highlights favorites from over the years like the uni toast.

According to the NY Times, beloved Village sushi bar Ushiwakamaru from chef Hideo Kuribara (which closed in December due to a rent hike) will reopen in a larger Chelsea location with a new 18-seat sushi bar and a $100 omakase (20 course meal); Kosher omakase is $110. [NYT]
