Former Police Commissioner Ray Kelly suggested Wednesday that New York “is drifting” under the leadership of Mayor de Blasio and that a “so-called Ferguson Effect” has hurt the NYPD’s ability to do its job.
“People have that sense,” Kelly said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” when asked if the city appeared to be in decline.
“Perception is reality in many ways, particularly in this city,” he said. “There’s a feeling that this city is drifting … the optics of more homeless on the streets contributes to that.”
