Online food delivery services are growing rapidly across the US, and some unlikely players – including multiple big-name companies – are vying to capture a piece of the rapidly growing demand.
Google will begin testing out its own grocery delivery service this year, reports Bloomberg. The trial will begin in San Francisco and one other location, with partners like Whole Foods and Costco. Google already runs Google Express, its same- or next-day delivery service for merchandise.
Amazon launched its Prime Now restaurant delivery service in Seattle, reports GeekWire. Using its own fleet of delivery drivers, Amazon Prime Now promises meal delivery within an hour.
