Though some of us don’t want to admit it, today’s brisk morning temperatures are a sign that open-toed shoes and outdoor eating are on the way out. The Brooklyn Flea and sister food market Smorgasburg have made plans for the colder months that include picking up their many operations flung across three boroughs and moving them all to Sunset Park.
Beginning the weekend of October 17th and 18th, the Flea and the Smorg will move to Industry City, a rapidly-growing, multi-use creative office and production facility near the Brooklyn waterfront. In a second floor, 50,000-square-foot loft space there’ll be 100 Flea vendors and another 40 Smorgasburg vendors, whose identities won’t be released for another month. In 2013, the dual markets took over an enormous space in Williamsburg and last year cozied up to Berg’n, the beer and food hall run by the Brooklyn Flea team.
