esquire.com – You may have noticed that the Democratic Party has managed to put together its most progressive platform since old Lyndon was riding tall in the saddle. It wasn’t what everybody wanted, but it’s unequivocally against the death penalty, and it calls for a repeal of the Hyde Amendment that forbids federal money to be used for abortions and for a $15 federal minimum wage, and it’s damn sure more progressive than what the alternative is likely to be. But, then again, so is a tackhammer.
Anyway, the platform is the result of a newly energized progressive wing of the Democratic Party. So, as CNN inquires, what would be a better time to put back into the Senate young Evan Bayh?
